God’s Model For The Church - Calvary Distinctive Series

February 13, 2013
As we wrap up our study on God’s Model for the Church, Pastor Jeff reminds us that we must be faithful in small things before we can be trusted with big things. Are you allowing the Lord to lead you? Or are you trying to lead Him? Be content with the work God gives you, no matter how small or menial. If you are doing His bidding with a willing heart, He will bless your efforts many times over.

God created the church as a way for believers to build one another up, learn about His Word, and glorify Him through our worship. Our church, no matter how big or small, should be a vital part of our spiritual lives. In today’s study, Pastor Jeff brings us back to Acts to remind us how God set up the church in the first place.

In today’s study, Pastor Jeff warns us against false teachers who would lead us astray by teaching false doctrines. At Calvary Chapel, we believe that God’s Word is our sole guide through life. That is why our church is modeled after the Bible alone—it is our sure foundation.

The great theologian C.S Lewis once said. “In the end there are only two kinds of people: those who say to God, ‘‘Thy will be done,’’ and those to whom God says, ‘‘Thy will be done.’’ As we’ve been learning through the book of Isaiah, we have a choice to make. We can either choose Heaven, or we can choose Hell. Today we conclude our Journey through this incredible prophetic book of the bible. But yet the question still remains, will you choose “Heaven or Hell?”

2 Corinthians 5:19 explains that God is pleading to the world through His people. The Bible warns us, that if you die without Christ in your heart, you will immediately enter a place of eternal torment. This is not to be taken lightly; God gives us a choice of Heaven or Hell.

Today we enter the last chapter of Isaiah. It is not only the last chapter, but the climax to the entire book. Today on Sound Doctrine, Pastor Jeff explains, that the climax includes a spiritual battle for souls. It is the kingdom of darkness vs. the kingdom of light. Today, God gives you a choice; will you choose Heaven or Hell?

As we look around our world today, there is no doubt that we are living in what the Bible calls the Last Days. If we understand the days we are living in, how should we conduct our lives as Christians? The Bible makes it clear, that we should seek to be living Holy and separate from this world. Today on Sound Doctrine, Pastor Jeff concludes his message entitled “Thy Kingdom Come”, and exhorts us to have a Heavenly perspective.

In John 14 verse 3 Jesus said, “I go to prepare a place foryou”. Today on Sound Doctrine Isaiah gives us an illustration of this real literal “place”. We also see that God declares it as “new”, and something that only He can create. But this place is only available for those who have a loving relationship with God, through Jesus Christ.

If you are a Christian, the Bible describes you as a “pilgrim” separate from this world, and passing through it on your way to a new kingdom. ”. We also learn that we have a savior that seeks after us, but are we seeking Him?

Confession is often called “the soap” for the Christian, and the Bible tells us that if we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Today in Isaiah 64, the scripture tells us that we are all unclean, and our righteousness is like filthy rags. Our only hope is to confess our sins and stand in the Righteousness of Christ.
