Helmet of Salvation, Part 2

April 10, 2012
God gives us the understanding that we lack on our own. When you realize what God has done in your life, don’t ignore it. Let others know! Ask the Lord to fill you with the Spirit in order to bless others around you.

Today Pastor Jeff starts teaching on the Helmet of Salvation. God’s defensive armor enables us to endure the hardships that the devil brings against us. Also, we learn that communication with God is of the utmost importance. Don’t forget to pray!

Easter is a time to remember that Jesus lives! He suffered on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins, but now He sits at the right hand of God. If we make Jesus the Lord of our lives, then one day we will join Him in Heaven. Let Jesus roll the stone away from your heart, and grant you eternal life.

In taking communion, we remember Christ’s sacrifice. Today, Pastor Jeff reminds us how important this sacrament really is. We must approach it with sincerity, examining our hearts to make sure that we are holy before the Lord. Paul warns us against taking communion lightly so that we do not eat and drink judgment to ourselves.

At Easter time, we recall Christ’s crucifixion. The one word that should come to mind is “love.” Romans 5:8 says, “God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Christ knew that our sins required His death in order to be paid for, and He surrendered His own will to the will of the Father.

As we continue studying Luke 19, Pastor Jeff reveals how important it is that Christ chose to ride a donkey because it shows several key things. Jesus’ upbringing was meek and lowly. He experienced the temptations and problems that we experience. Christ intimately knows our struggles and human weaknesses.

Pastor Jeff encourages us to be filled with knowledge. Christ’s actions here fulfilled many prophecies; but sadly, the people didn’t realize that these prophecies were being fulfilled in their very presence! They were ignorant. God demands that we know His Word in order that we might be ready for His coming.

Jesus came to show us the Father. He didn’t come clothed in splendor and glory. Instead, Christ showed His humility by riding on a donkey’s colt. Let Jesus be your prime example of humility. He wasn’t flamboyant and showy. Our Savior and King, Jesus Christ, was born and lived in lowly and humble surroundings. He knew the true meaning of being a king.

As we finish up our study on the shield of faith, Pastor Jeff warns us that Satan is a master of confusion. He will find even the smallest chink in your armor and then wreak havoc in your life. Strengthen your faith through studying the Word, and then you’ll be able to support others as well.

Are you diligently seeking after God? Pastor Jeff urges us to have faith no matter what. Only then can we overcome the world. If you aren’t studying the Word, you won’t grow in your faith, and Satan will sift you like wheat. Without faith, you will fail!

The weapons of our warfare are mighty! Pastor Jeff explains from the Scriptures that we always have triumph through Christ; but we must understand that we do have a personal devil who wants to take us down. Remember Job? Like him, we will be tested, but God protects us.
