He Is Risen, Part 3

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the most important event in human history. With out it there is no Gospel. There is no hope. So as Christians who know the truth, we are commanded to share the truth! Pastor Jeff Johnson is continuing on in Mark chapter 16, and we will learn that we are all called to be missionaries spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This is part 3 of the series, “He Is Risen”

The death of Jesus Christ upon the cross of Calvary was one of the most important times in human history. Jesus in his public ministry, fulfilled many prophesies. We are continuing on in our series of Marks account of the trial the Christ went through. We saw that the religious leaders made up false accusations. Pilot didn’t want to get his hands dirty in this matter, but the people forced his hand. All of this of course was prophesied hundreds of years before it actually took place. And on this edition of sound doctrine we are mid-way through the trial and sentencing of Christ. He has been accused by the religious leaders, and examined by Pilot. We will see the people request for Christ to be executed and a criminal released. Pastor Jeff will teach us that this is a picture of all of us. Every one of us is guilty of sin, but by Christ death, we are pardoned. This is part 2 of the series, “By His Wounds We Are Healed”.

Today we begin Mark chapter 15 and the final trial of Christ before Pilot. This trial was full of false accusations and deceit. But the accusation that Jesus confirmed to be accurate was His kingship. Pastor Jeff will teach us that the afflictions that Christ is about to go through were necessary for our healing. Christ submitted Himself to the courts of men, so we could have access to eternity. This is the new series titled, “By His Wounds We are Healed.”

Peter is one of the most relatable characters in the New Testament. He was very much like you and I. Peter looked Christ in the eye and said he would never betray him. But as we will see today, that wasn’t case. In the midst of a tribulation he allowed his flesh to take over and he did the very thing he swore he would never do.
