He Is Risen, Part 1

March 6, 2017

Today on SD, we start the series on the last chapter of the Gospel of Mark. It couldn’t be called a gospel if there was no resurrection. The resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead is the corner stone of the Christian faith.  Without it we are all with out hope. Pastor Jeff begins Mark chapter 16 with a recap of this gospel. We invite you to follow along for in the four part series titled, “He Is Risen”

The death of Jesus Christ upon the cross of Calvary was one of the most important times in human history.  Jesus in his public ministry, fulfilled many prophesies. In death, He was still fulfilling the Old Testament. Pastor Jeff will show us through Marks Gospel that Jesus was exactly who He said He was, the Messiah. This is part 3 and the conclusion of the series, “The Crucifixion”

Christ was fully God and fully man. He was able to heal with one word. He could calm the most formidable storms. But when it came to His execution, He couldn’t save Himself. Or at least that’s what the religious Pharisees thought. Today pastor Jeff will teach us that Christ placed himself on that cross for us. This is part 2 of the series, “The Crucifixion”

Jesus Christ fulfilled over 300 prophesies concerning the Messiah. The rest are still future events. But some of the most important prophecies are the ones about His death and resurrection. Isaiah and the Psalms are some of the most compelling scriptures in the OT. Today on SD, Pastor Jeff will examine these old testament prophesies as we study the crucifixion, from Mark chapter 15 beginning at verse 20, in the series titled, “The Crucifixion”,

We are continuing on in our series of Marks account of the trial the Christ went through. We saw that the religious leaders made up false accusations. Pilot didn’t want to get his hands dirty in this matter, but the people forced his hand. All of this of course was prophesied hundreds of years before it actually took place. Jesus had to suffer and die, so we could live. This is the conclusion to the series, “By His Wounds We Are Healed” from Mark chapter 15

And on this edition of sound doctrine we are mid-way through the trial and sentencing of Christ. He has been accused by the religious leaders, and examined by Pilot.  We will see the people request for Christ to be executed and a criminal released. Pastor Jeff will teach us that this is a picture of all of us. Every one of us is guilty of sin, but by Christ death, we are pardoned. This is part 2 of the series, “By His Wounds We Are Healed”.

Today we begin Mark chapter 15 and the final trial of Christ before Pilot.  This trial was full of false accusations and deceit. But the accusation that Jesus confirmed to be accurate was His kingship. Pastor Jeff will teach us that the afflictions that Christ is about to go through were necessary for our healing. Christ submitted Himself to the courts of men, so we could have access to eternity. This is the new series titled, “By His Wounds We are Healed.”

Peter is one of the most relatable characters in the New Testament. He was very much like you and I. Peter looked Christ in the eye and said he would never betray him. But as we will see today, that wasn’t case. In the midst of a tribulation he allowed his flesh to take over and he did the very thing he swore he would never do. Pastor Jeff is continuing in Mark chapter 14, in the conclusion to the message titled, “Trials and Tribulation”

We all have found ourselves in hot water at one time or another. Peter found himself next to a hot fire rubbing elbows with the enemy. On today’s edition of SD, Pastor Jeff Johnson will teach us that it’s important for us not to allow our flesh to make decisions for us, when we are in the midst of a trial. This is part 2 of “Trials and Tribulation” from Mark chapter 14

Pastor Jeff is in the Gospel of Mark chapter 14. We are at the point of Christ’s arrest and a shame court hearing.  Pastor Jeff is teaching that, Christ already had for warned His disciples that hard times were coming. He knew the events that would transpire and was in control of it. This would be the hardest trial of the disciple’s lives thus far. Pastor Jeff will show us that we can learn a lot from the way they handled His hardships. This is the new series, “Trials and Tribulation”

Jesus was betrayed by one of his own closes friends. This is enough to give any one depression and stress. Have you ever thought why God would allow himself to feel these human emotions? Well on today’s edition of Sound Doctrine, Pastor Jeff will teach us that because Jesus experienced all these things, He can be our high priest who we can relate to!  If you have ever been betrayed, or depressed or stressed, you’re in good company.
