Gaius was a man known to have a physical health problem. But because he walked in the Truth of God’s Word, he was balanced, strong, and joyful in the Spirit. Today, Pastor Jeff encourages us to walk in the Truth, and obtain the same joyful, balanced lifestyle Gaius had.

Many in this world are rich with materialism and physicality, but sadly they are poor spiritually. As we begin the book of 3rd John, we’ll learn of an individual named Gaius, who was quite the opposite. Gaius was spiritually rich towards God, but physically ill. Today Pastor Jeff says, that the sickness that comes upon believers, isn’t always the result of sin, as some say. But it is for God to be glorified in the believer’s life.

1 Timothy 1:4 says, “In the last days some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons.” There are many who have been deceived, and follow a gospel that contradicts the Word of God. Today, we’ll learn how to recognize these false doctrines, and what to do when confronted with them.

It’s important to support, and be hospitable to those who are spreading the Truth of the Gospel. But at the same time, we must be aware of the many who are spreading a false gospel. Today, we are encouraged by Pastor Jeff to support those who are spreading the Truth. But we are also given a warning, to not support a gospel contrary to the Word of God.

The Apostle John desired for his spiritual children to be full of Joy. Pastor Jeff reminds us today, that Gods Joy is something that the world can’t give or take away. If we take heed to the instruction of God’s Word, the joy of the Lord will be easily attained.

There is a great danger in straying away from the Word of God. Many false prophets begin their teaching with the Truth of God's Word. But as time goes on, they distort and twist the Truth, and create their own fashion of God's Word. The only wasy we can withstand, and sift through these deceptions, is by Abiding in Christ, who is the only real Truth.

A false teachers doctrine, will always take you away from the simplicity that is in Christ. We'll see today, that many of these teachers have gone out into the world, and if we're going to overcome there doctrine, we must abide in the truth of God's Word.

Truth and Love: Two words the apostle John emphasizes in his writings. Without God's Truth, we have no real direction. And without God's Love, the Bible says we're nothing. Today on Sound Doctrine, Pastor Jeff begins a study entitled "To Abide In His Word', and he will expound on these two foundations, known as Truth and Love.

One of the basic foundations of the Christian life is to love one another. But we can easily slip away and be self-deceived, when we find our hearts being filled with anger and hatred. Today, Pastor Jeff reminds us, that the fruit and evidence of our salvation, is Love.
