God's Fire Falls, Part 2

December 13, 2013
The book of James warns about being double-minded.  It explains that the double-minded person will not receive anything from the Lord.  We find the same warning in todays program when Elijah asked the people of Israel "how long will you falter between two opinions?"  Today Pastor Jeff challenges us with the same question and encourages us to make a decision for Christ.

For 3 years; God prepared His prophet Elijah in the desert. During that time he learned the valuable lesson of waiting upon the Lord. Today as we enter a new chapter of 1 Kings, we'll learn that the time Elijah spent in the desert prepared him to come against the prophets of Baal. More on this today, as Pastor Jeff begins part 1 of the message "God's Fire Falls."

As we conclude our study "The Making of a Man" we see God using Elijah powerfully in the desert. God wants to use each one of us in different ways but we must first be empty vessels and allow God to shape and mod us in a way that is pleasing to Him. The Bible says in the book of Isaiah "But now, O LORD, You are our Father, We are the clay, and You our potter; all of us are the work of Your hand."  More on this today in Sound Doctrine.

After Elijah's prophesy of no rain for 3 years he was told to hide in the desert.  But God promised to provide for him, and even in the midst of a famine Gods provision came thru.  Today Pastor Jeff reminds us that God is a loving God and He will provide for all of our needs.

Some of the greatest men in the Bible have one thing in common...the desert.  God allowed these men to experience a dry and lonely place and it was the desert experience that shaped them into men of God.  Today Pastor Jeff teaches on the life of Elijah, a man God used in an extraordinary way.  And 1st Kings 17 records the account of his desert experience.

Today as we close out chapter 16 of 1st Kings we see a match made in Hell.  King Ahab and Jezebel enter the scriptures who were without question the most evil people in world history.  Together they set up the idol known as Baal to worship and caused Israel to continue in their evil ways.  Today Pastor Jeff concludes his message entitled "The Beat Goes On."

In Ezekiel 18:4 it says "Behold, all souls are Mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is Mine; the soul who sins shall die."  It may be easy to blame our upbringing or even our environment for our sins.  But today Pastor Jeff says each person is responsible for there own sins.  But Jesus went to the cross to die for our sins.  As we continue to study 1st Kings, Israel's sins are progressing and prophecies against the nation continue to be fulfilled.

On todays program, we begin a study entitled "The Beat Goes On." Pastor Jeff says, unless a person or nation repents from there evil ways, problems will keep producing. But if repentence takes place, blessings are produced instead of problems, and consequently the "beat" stops. Pastor Jeff explains more today on Sound Doctrine.

An old saying declares "as the leaders go, so goes the nation." Time has proved this to be true with any nation. And when Kings ruled Israel, this truth meant prosperity or destruction. Today, we conclude our study entitled "God Raises Up & Puts Down", and Pastor Jeff encourages us to run to God in the time of trouble.

Throughout the history of Israel, God raised up, and put down Kings. Some did evil in the sight of the Lord, and some did what was right. But few fully trusted God with there whole heart. Today, we continue our study in 1st Kings, and Pastor Jeff encourages us to trust the Lord with all our hearts. Because when we do, He will direct our paths.

In the midst of a choatic world, many may question God's sovereignty. But the Bible explains that God knows the beginning from the end, and He is in complete control of every situation. Today, Pastor Jeff reminds us God is a good and just God. And His ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts. Stay tuned for more on Sound Doctrine.
