Today on sound doctrine, Pastor Jeff continues the study titled "The Wages of Sin is Death", and encourages the youth of this generation to be strong in the Lord.

Romans 6:23 say's "The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."  Unfortunately, some will still choose death over the free gift of eternal life.  In our study today, we'll see an extended offering of Gods amazing grace, as the wicked king of Israel is given provision to overtake the king of Syria.  As we listen today, Pastor Jeff will encourage us to recognize, and receive Gods gift of eternal life, and challenge us to repent and follow Jesus- who is our ultimate provision.

Hiding out in a cave, isolated from society, and doing nothing is a recipe for depression.  We've been seeing this in our current study in 1 Kings with the prophet Elijah. But today, we'll see God give him critical instructions that will get him out of his cave and back into Gods will for his life. Pastor Jeff encourages us today to be busy with the things of the Lord and to find our joy in serving Him.

Did you know that isolation is one of the major signs of depression? Today in 1 Kings we will see Elijah hiding out in a cave, in complete isolation. This once victorious prophet is now dealing with depression. Coming up next, Pastor Jeff continues to teach verse-by-verse thru 1 Kings and gives us practical application on dealing with depression Gods way.

We've been studying the incredible life and ministry of a man named Elijah. The miracles and victories God gave him are demonstrated in 1 Kings. But this man with a nature like ours dealt with real life issues. Coming up today on Sound doctrine, Pastor Jeff begins a message called "The Thrill of Victory & The Agony of Defeat," and delves into the topic of depression.

It's safe to say that there are hundreds of scriptures on prayer.  In fact, Jesus said "men out always to pray, and not to loose heart" and 1st Thessalonians 5:17 says "pray without ceasing."  Today, we'll learn that prayer was the fundamental part of Elijah's miracles.

The book of James warns about being double-minded.  It explains that the double-minded person will not receive anything from the Lord.  We find the same warning in todays program when Elijah asked the people of Israel "how long will you falter between two opinions?"  Today Pastor Jeff challenges us with the same question and encourages us to make a decision for Christ.

For 3 years; God prepared His prophet Elijah in the desert. During that time he learned the valuable lesson of waiting upon the Lord. Today as we enter a new chapter of 1 Kings, we'll learn that the time Elijah spent in the desert prepared him to come against the prophets of Baal. More on this today, as Pastor Jeff begins part 1 of the message "God's Fire Falls."
December 12, 2013
As we conclude our study "The Making of a Man" we see God using Elijah powerfully in the desert. God wants to use each one of us in different ways but we must first be empty vessels and allow God to shape and mod us in a way that is pleasing to Him. The Bible says in the book of Isaiah "But now, O LORD, You are our Father, We are the clay, and You our potter; all of us are the work of Your hand."  More on this today in Sound Doctrine.

After Elijah's prophesy of no rain for 3 years he was told to hide in the desert.  But God promised to provide for him, and even in the midst of a famine Gods provision came thru.  Today Pastor Jeff reminds us that God is a loving God and He will provide for all of our needs.
