By His Wounds we are Healed, Part 2

And on this edition of sound doctrine we are mid-way through the trial and sentencing of Christ. He has been accused by the religious leaders, and examined by Pilot. We will see the people request for Christ to be executed and a criminal released. Pastor Jeff will teach us that this is a picture of all of us. Every one of us is guilty of sin, but by Christ death, we are pardoned. This is part 2 of the series, “By His Wounds We Are Healed”.

But the accusation that Jesus confirmed to be accurate was His kingship. Pastor Jeff will teach us that the afflictions that Christ is about to go through were necessary for our healing. Peter is one of the most relatable characters in the New Testament. He was very much like you and I. Peter looked Christ in the eye and said he would never betray him. But as we will see today, that wasn’t case. In the midst of a tribulation he allowed his flesh to take over and he did the very thing he swore he would never do. Pastor Jeff is teaching that, Christ already had for warned His disciples that hard times were coming. He knew the events that would transpire and was in control of it. Jesus had a lot of enemies. In fact many of his enemies joined forces in an attempt to have him destroyed. So they devised a plan to betray him and have him executed. What they didn’t realize because of the hardness of their hearts was that no one takes Jesus life from Him. He lays it down willingly.
