Blessing or Blasphemy, Part 3

There has been a lot of confusion of the statement Jesus made about the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. Many think they have already committed it and their fate is sealed. Perhaps this is you. Well Pastor Jeff wants to assure you that you’re mistaken, and there is still opportunity to receive eternal life. On Todays program Pastor Jeff continues in the Gospel Mark chapter 3. We find in today’s passage that the religious leaders in Israel had their own expectation of who, and what the Christ was going to do. When Jesus came on the scene, He did all that was according the prophecies God gave, concerning the Messiah. You can imagine this created a lot of friction with those religious leaders. And its an important lesson for us today, this is the study, “Blessing or Blasphemy.”

Isaiah prophesied that when Messiah would come, blindness would be healed, deafness opened and lame men would leap. The Gospels all record amazing miracles performed by Jesus. Christ used these signs and wonders a testament of his claim as the Son of God. The practice of religion is exhausting. Those under the law were under bondage. Christ came to set us free. But not only were we set free He also gave us rest from striving for righteousness. Practicing religion in the attempts to make one righteous is a their of peace and grace. The Jewish religious leaders in Jesus day, thought that by fasting it made them closer to God and therefore righteous. But, Jesus came on the scene teaching them they were missing the mark. But, there was something in Jesus that caused them to abandon the safety and security of the world, and follow Him. Jesus’s public ministry lasted 3 years. He performed many signs and wonders. But, it was in the teaching and preaching the Word that was His primary focus. If Christ paid so much attention to the Word of God, we should as well. Gods word is the only thing that will ever truly bring peace and clarity in a unpeacful world. Pastor Jeff begins Mark chapter 2 in the 4 part series titled, “Jesus our Sabbath”.

We have been studying about the power of Jesus’s words when spoke. He has authority over the elements and spiritual hosts in heavenly places. Demons are very real, but as Christians we shouldn’t fear them. We should however be in prayer daily and fast often as Jesus did. Christ is not physically on earth with us, but we have His Word and the authority of His name. Pastor Jeff is in the Gospel of Mark chapter 1, in the conclusion of the series, “Jesus Came, Demons Went.”
