A Foolish Wise Man, Part 3

November 13, 2013
In verse 6 of 1 Kings 11 it says "Solomon did evil in the sight of the Lord."  Sadly, we've been seeing this wise man turn into a fool, because he did not fully commit his heart to God.  Now, civil war is on the brink of 1 Kings 11, and Solomon's kingdom is being terrorized from every side, including from within.  Listen as Pastor Jeff concludes the message "A Foolish Wise Man" on Sound Doctrine.

It's been said, "if we're not moving forward with the Lord, we're backsliding."  In these last days, God wants us to be on fire and passionate for Him, and not lukewarm.  In todays study entitled "A Foolish Wise Man," Solomon is compromising in his relationship with God, and is even setting up false gods to worship.  Pastor Jeff reminds us that "whatever a man sows, that will he also reap." And unfortunately, Solomon will soon reap destruction.

Solomon wrote in Proverbs 19:3 "The foolishness of man perverts his way."  Sadly, this is exactly what's taking place in our current study of 1st Kings.  Solomon's heart is being turned away from God, and incluenced by foreign women.  Today, Pastor Jeff reminds us that "if we sow to the flesh, we will reap corruption, but if we sow to the Spirit, we'll reap eternal life."

Today as we conclude our study "The Golden Age", we see compromise slowly creeping into Israel. Solomon's desire for wealth and gold is taking heart away from the things of God. Today, Pastor Jeff reminds us of 1 Timothy 6:9, which says "But those who desire to be rich fall into temptations and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men into destruction and perdition.

2 Chronicles 15:2 says, "The Lord is with you while you are with Him.  If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.''  As we continue our study entitled ''The Golden Age'', we learn of a condition God gave Solomon in the time of Israel's prosperity.  If Solomon's heart was right toward God, his kingdom would be established.  But if the commandments of God were not kept, and false gods were worshiped, then Israel would be cut off from their land.

As we finish our study, "Prince Of Darkness," Pastor Jeff reminds us that Satan and his demons are working harder than ever to take over. He also challenges parents to tell their children the truth about spiritual warfare. We can't hide from the reality of Satan, but we can prevail through the power of Jesus.

As we continue our study called "Prince Of Darkness," Pastor Jeff warns us not to take evil lightly. Satan tries to sneak his way in by pretending to be innocent, but we must be vigilant against evil. Satan seeks to put us in bondage, but God's word is our surest defense!
