Fully Trusting Him

And they brought the head of Ishbosheth to David at Hebron, and said to the king, “Here is the head of Ishbosheth, the son of Saul your enemy, who sought your life; and the Lord has avenged my lord the king this day of Saul and his descendants.” - >2 Samuel 4:8

Look at the wisdom of men; it truly is foolishness in the eyes of the Lord, as the Apostle Paul told the church in 1 Corinthians 3:19. Baanah and Rechab thought they were so smart. They thought they would look good before David, so they killed Saul’s son, Ishbosheth, and brought his head to David.

Then, they told David the Lord had avenged him. They tried to tell David they murdered Ishbosheth for the Lord. It was the Lord who delivered Ishbosheth into their hands. They really were foolish men.

These men should have known better. They were under Saul when he was pursuing David. They saw how many times David could have killed Saul, but he did not. Why? David knew Saul had been anointed by the Lord and when He wanted to take Saul down, He would do it, but Saul’s blood would not be on David’s hands. Baanah and Rechab had learned nothing serving under Saul.

David lived his life fully trusting in the Lord. That is what we need to learn. We have to trust the Lord with our lives, fully and completely. If we turn our lives over to Him, completely, He will do amazing things. If we do not fully trust Him, we will miss out on the true blessings God has for each one of us, individually.

There is no other will but the Master’s will, for all other wills subserve His, whether they will or no.
