The Waves of Warfare
And he spoke before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, “What are these feeble Jews doing? Will they fortify themselves? Will they offer sacrifices? Will they complete it in a day? Will they revive the stones from the heaps of rubbish—stones that are burned?” - Nehemiah 4:2
Nehemiah in the face of great opposition from his enemies remained steadfast and immovable. He would finish God’s work with the people despite the constant waves of warfare––he never resigned himself to failure. He would not be hindered, confused, discouraged, threatened or stopped.
Listen, if you are going to be in the ministry––expect trials. Jesus went through trials in His ministry; are we any better than Him? Seriously, as a leader if people see you give up––then they will also give up. Paul encouraged believers in 1 Corinthians 15:58: Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, for ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
It is important to remember that walls––spiritually speaking are for protection. Satan does not want you to be protected; he may place ungodly friends around you to destroy your walk with God. Satan can even use your friends and family members to destroy the work of God in your life. So you have to be able to choose your friends wisely––especially in ministry. Surround yourself with godly men and women.
Jesus warned us about Satan’s evil character in John 10:10:“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.” Heis not going to mess around, he is your enemy–––your worst nightmare. Understand Satan will never give up his assaults on your life. His tactics are like waves, at times, a constant flow of attack.
Satan does not work haphazardly but attacks systematically.
