The last thing the devil needs is a believer sure of his or her acceptance before God. Such a believer is a threat. When that believer wears God's armor, in particular, "The Helmet of Salvation," Satan has no way to undermine the assurance that God's salvation brings. It's also tough to grow in the Christian life without the assurance that you are a child of God. Some say salvation can be lost, regained, and then lost again. It's tough to go into battle with the devil and not be sure you're on the winning side. Some think peace is just the absence of conflict. But God can give us inner calm even when the world is topsy-turvy. Jesus knew His disciples would face extreme trials. Most would die as martyrs after suffering great persecution. The peace He left them is one of the weapons in the armor of God, a weapon we're told to wear as shoes. So, how's your peace today?
