Some think peace is just the absence of conflict. But God can give us inner calm even when the world is topsy-turvy. Jesus knew His disciples would face extreme trials. Most would die as martyrs after suffering great persecution. The peace He left them is one of the weapons in the armor of God, a weapon we're told to wear as shoes. So, how's your peace today?

Taking the gospel of peace to a world under Satan's dominion: that's a sure way to find yourself immediately at war. The devil sets his sights on any believer obeying the command to take the gospel to another person. It's one thing to believe that the righteousness of Jesus can be credited to our account before a holy God. But it's another to put that knowledge to use when we find ourselves sinning every day. In some religions, the idea is: do as many good works as you can. At your judgment, you hope the good works outweigh the bad. Believers can rejoice that Jesus bestows His personal righteousness as a gift on those who are His. God sees our sins through the perfection of His Son, and can legally declare us as righteous as He is. This stops the devil in his tracks.
