The Cross:Our Challenge Before a Watching World, Part 4 of 4 (Why the Cross Can Do What Politics Can't)

November 3, 2014

Jesus said, “I am the Vine, you are the branches. If you abide in Me and I in you, you will bear much fruit.” Indeed we must bear fruit, or else the cross will be of no effect.  It is not what we say or who we vote for; it is what we do.

Jesus renounced His privileges and humbled Himself to the point of permitting His own death. Unless we do the same, we will never reach the lost.

A culture that rejects Christ is a culture that makes its own standard for moral choices. This moral standard influences our votes which determine our nation’s destiny. So where does true morality come from?

One day there will be no more racial or ethnic divisions. One day, redeemed humanity will glory only in the cross. Saints from every nation will exalt the Lamb of God. The good news? It is possible for the church to mirror that future reality today.

Many who seek justice call for “a level playing field” of opportunity. There is one place where the field is level, and that is at the foot of the cross of Christ. This cross is the only basis for reconciling people of different backgrounds.
