Living With Your Passions
In a hyper-sexualized culture, sex is either reduced to pleasure-seeking or conflated with our identity. But God designed us as sexual beings for emotional and spiritual intimacy whose highest calling is to worship Him. In this revised edition, Pastor Erwin Lutzer draws on forty years of ministry experience to present a rationale for sexual purity. He gives an honest answer to the sexual pressures we face like extramarital relationships, self-gratification, same-sex attraction, and more. As desire-driven creatures, we don't have to pursue happiness at the expense of character. With our identity grounded in Christ, we can live victoriously with our passions. In the body of Christ there is great diversity. Mature Christians enjoy the gifts of every member of the body, since each believer has a unique contribution to make to the growth of Christ’s kingdom.

God sees believers as part of Christ’s body, which is the church. In life’s race, Christians don’t and shouldn’t run alone. We share the actual life of God Himself in the church through His Spirit.

As Christians running the race of life, we’re blessed to be a part of an invisible assembly—the body of Christ worldwide. It’s vital to understand the body of Christ and our part in it, because God designed His church to work together.

If you pop the hood of a car, you’ll see an array of parts all working together.  If one’s out of place, the whole engine will grind to a halt.  It’s similar in the local church.  If people are not serving where God wants them to serve, the ministry and effectiveness of the church is damaged.

God has a place of service for every Christian, and He has dispensed a spiritual gift every Christian can use to benefit others in that place of service. If we fail to use our gifts, the body of Christ suffers. But how can we identify our gifts and put them to work?

Only God has the power needed to raise sinners from the dead and give them new life. It’s a myth that humanity can contribute to salvation, and if believed, the lie can have eternal consequences.
November 20, 2015
The Bible says that only God’s righteousness opens heaven’s doors. That’s why we’re deceived if we believe that “God helps those who help themselves.”
November 19, 2015
In one sense it’s true: God helps those who help themselves. But when it comes to salvation, that saying is a lie. We can’t add anything to the work that’s already been done to secure our eternal future.
