Christ, the Lord of Our Talents, Part 3 of 3 (Crowning Christ Lord)

May 9, 2016

For every Olympic track star, thousands of runners will never make the team. But that’s no reason to give up. Many believers with few talents approach life with a clenched fist rather than an open hand. Let’s offer ourselves to the Lord for His purposes, regardless of our abilities.

Living With Your Passions
In a hyper-sexualized culture, sex is either reduced to pleasure-seeking or conflated with our identity. But God designed us as sexual beings for emotional and spiritual intimacy whose highest calling is to worship Him. In this revised edition, Pastor Erwin Lutzer draws on forty years of ministry experience to present a rationale for sexual purity. He gives an honest answer to the sexual pressures we face like extramarital relationships, self-gratification, same-sex attraction, and more. As desire-driven creatures, we don't have to pursue happiness at the expense of character. With our identity grounded in Christ, we can live victoriously with our passions. For the Christian, time is a vital, non-renewable resource. It can only be spent once; we don’t get a second chance at it.  Why not invest the next fifteen minutes, learning how to best use your time?

Psalm 116:15 says, “Blessed in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.” Multitudes of believers have given their lives for the faith. Are we ready to do the same? We must be prepared.

What kind of legacy will you and I leave behind? The Apostle Paul left a legacy of faithfulness to Christ to the very end. He died as a martyr in Rome. But how should we as Christians face death today?
April 28, 2016
Many early Christians met death as martyrs for the faith. Even now, ISIS is killing many in the Middle East. The day may come when American believers face the same fate. So we must work now to develop the right attitude toward dying for Christ.
April 27, 2016
The word “witness” in Greek is the word known in English as “martyr.” In the early church, dying for Christ went hand in hand with being His witness. The Apostle Paul went to his death in Rome sealing that witness with his blood.

Human slavery has existed throughout history. But where the gospel has been embraced, slavery has faded away. The New Testament has something to say about this practice, which was common throughout the Roman Empire.
