Choices made in a moment can have repercussions that last for generations. King David made an impulsive choice going after Bathsheba, and a pregnancy resulted. This set in motion the inevitable cover-up, in which her husband was killed to hide the sin. But the sin was uncovered and the outcome involved severe temporal judgment.
