The Greek word is ekklesia, the “called-out ones.” In English, the word is “church,” and if you believe in Jesus, you’re “called-out.” You’re called out to live separate from the values of our culture. That’s tough to do, but when we forge links of fellowship and support in a local assembly, it becomes a lot easier. That’s why God says, “Don’t forsake assembling together.” The church: local and universal: is today’s focus.
