In a Nazareth synagogue, Jesus opened a scroll of Isaiah the prophet and began to read. A hush fell over the audience. He read of good news for the poor, freedom for prisoners, sight for the blind, and liberty for the oppressed, ending by saying, “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your ears.” Only the Son of God could say that.
