In a hyper-sexualized culture, sex is either reduced to pleasure-seeking or conflated with our identity. But God designed us as sexual beings for emotional and spiritual intimacy whose highest calling is to worship Him. In this revised edition, Pastor Erwin Lutzer draws on forty years of ministry experience to present a rationale for sexual purity. He gives an honest answer to the sexual pressures we face like extramarital relationships, self-gratification, same-sex attraction, and more. As desire-driven creatures, we don't have to pursue happiness at the expense of character. With our identity grounded in Christ, we can live victoriously with our passions. Some call it "God's riches at Christ's expense." Those who run the race of the Christian life know the anagram as "grace." Once they understand what the Bible teaches about salvation, they know that grace is unmerited favor, and they thank God every day of their lives for the grace that made it possible for them to become citizens of heaven. When running the race of the Christian life, it's easy to forget those who've never gotten on the track. Millions of people don't know where it is. They try to gain heaven through their own efforts. They think that if their good deeds outweigh their bad, they'll make it through heaven's gates. Others hope that keeping the sacraments will insure their eternal future. So, what's the truth? To find out, stay with us.

Picture a marathon runner jogging all alone, way in front of the pack. He doesn't know that he left the correct route long ago. He's sincere, but sincerely wrong. Run as he might, his efforts will never win him the race. Sincerity is great, but it's not enough, especially when it comes to this all-important matter: the salvation of our souls.

Sometimes every instinct we have runs counter to what the Bible says to do. That's especially true of reconciliation. When someone attacks us, we want to attack back. But the Bible says, "Bless those who persecute you: bless and do not curse." Today: some hard lessons on resolving conflict, and helping ourselves and others get over past injustices.

In the end, some offended people will refuse reconciliation, and hang on to their hurts until their knuckles turn white. Letting go of past injustice seems, for many, to be the ultimate insult. After all, those injustices give these people their reason to go on fighting. Today: a call for all who hold their hurts dear to give them up, and to be healed of their anger.

What do you do when a fellow believer sins and will not repent? Jesus told us what to do: invoke church discipline. It's never easy to confront a sinning Christian, so Jesus gave us teaching on how and when to do the necessary task of bringing that brother back to repentance and fellowship. Today: a look at the end game of reconciliation: what to do when nothing else works.

No one ever said that reconciliation is easy. It can be very hard. But this is certain: reconciliation is necessary. It can take years to form the deep divisions that keep families and former friends apart. And it may take time to heal those wounds. Today: we'll learn from the teachings of Jesus the steps to take to seek real reconciliation and find it.

Jesus never complained when He suffered. So why do we haul fellow believers into court when we think we've been cheated? Maybe it's too many courtroom shows on TV. We think we can get justice from unbelieving judges. In reality, God wants us to get our justice from His hand. Today: why it's better to suffer wrong than to tarnish the name of Jesus in a court of law.

It's almost fashionable to sue someone these days. Court dockets are full as people demand payback for injustice. Sadly, too many of these cases involve Christians, in clear violation of the New Testament. The Apostle Paul has some pointed words for those of us who'd like nothing better than to stick it to a fellow believer in court. Get set for some counter-cultural teaching, and by all means, stay with us.

"I just wish he'd stop it!" When you're under constant attack, you cry out for God to intervene, to end the long misery. When God deposed King Saul, David was anointed to be king of Israel. Well, Saul didn't go quietly. Instead, he pursued David with spears for ten years. So, what lessons was God teaching David, and perhaps, you and me?
