Living With Your Passions
In a hyper-sexualized culture, sex is either reduced to pleasure-seeking or conflated with our identity. But God designed us as sexual beings for emotional and spiritual intimacy whose highest calling is to worship Him. In this revised edition, Pastor Erwin Lutzer draws on forty years of ministry experience to present a rationale for sexual purity. He gives an honest answer to the sexual pressures we face like extramarital relationships, self-gratification, same-sex attraction, and more. As desire-driven creatures, we don't have to pursue happiness at the expense of character. With our identity grounded in Christ, we can live victoriously with our passions. In the drama of redemption, the Old Testament is a grand prologue. In the New Testament, the great transaction takes place. Jesus gives his life not far from where Abraham almost offered Isaac. No playwright could dream of a story so wonderful.

The nation of Israel plays a crucial role in God’s plan for mankind – ultimately, to bring forth a Messiah who would first die as a sacrifice for sin and later be raised and return to reign as King over the whole earth.

The Old Testament includes many genres: prophecy, history, law and wisdom literature. Today we continue our airplane flyover of the Old Testament, and we will focus on the time period when Israel was taken into captivity, its temple destroyed.
