Living With Your Passions
In a hyper-sexualized culture, sex is either reduced to pleasure-seeking or conflated with our identity. But God designed us as sexual beings for emotional and spiritual intimacy whose highest calling is to worship Him. In this revised edition, Pastor Erwin Lutzer draws on forty years of ministry experience to present a rationale for sexual purity. He gives an honest answer to the sexual pressures we face like extramarital relationships, self-gratification, same-sex attraction, and more. As desire-driven creatures, we don't have to pursue happiness at the expense of character. With our identity grounded in Christ, we can live victoriously with our passions. Patience is only developed when that patience is tried. Whether it’s long grocery lines or long waits for answered prayer, God uses these unplanned “waits” to mold our characters.

It’s the height of folly to think we can hide our sins from God. That’s what David wrote about in Psalm 32. Caught red-handed in great sin, David came clean before God and man. In this message we’ll cover what it takes to be fully forgiven by the God who sees everything we do.

When God chose to communicate how He cares for His own, He gave the picture of a shepherd tending his flock. Shepherds do more than guide their sheep to food and water. They take a personal interest in every sheep.

Politicians speak of vast conspiracies against them. But the real conspiracy is that of the nations of the world in revolt against God. Psalm 2 tells us that God sits in heaven, laughing at man’s attempt to remove Him from society.

Everywhere you look, the Christian faith is under attack. Many ask, “Is God really in charge?” Erwin Lutzer traces some blatant attacks on Christians, but then takes us to the Bible for the assurance that, despite all we see, God is still in control.

The Bible says that all our righteous deeds are as filthy rags. Only God’s righteousness opens heaven’s doors. That’s why we’re deceived if we believe that “God helps those who help themselves.”
January 28, 2015
A lot of people think the Bible says: “God helps those who help themselves.” It doesn’t. When it comes to salvation, here’s what God really says: we cannot help ourselves. Only He can save. In this message, another lie about God is unmasked.
