Jesus knew His disciples would be tested in ways they couldn't imagine after He faced the cross and ascended to the Father. That's why he spent His last night with them explaining what would happen and what they were to do. Today, we'll listen in us as some fearful disciples gain understanding from their Master. When circumstances change in ways we can't control, we often feel helpless or even frightened, not knowing where to turn. The disciples felt that way when Jesus told them He was leaving to face the cross. How he encouraged them is how He will encourage us; it all has to do with finding out what's on "the last page."

When we speak a word of witness for Christ, we never know how people will react. But we can know that some are ready to believe. That's because the Holy Spirit works in the hearts of those the Father is drawing to Himself. Witnessing for Christ need not be a burden...in the power of the Spirit, it can be and should be a real adventure.

Jesus told us how true love is manifested: that a man lay down his life for his friends. Is this the kind of love manifested in your life, and in mine? If not, stay with us.

God does not save people to give them a fire-escape from hell. He saves them to bear fruit to glorify His name. For a believer, running life's race means bearing fruit by abiding in Jesus, the Vine. The resulting fruit is sweet to the Father, who tends His garden carefully to maximize the harvest. So, how much fruit are you bearing? How much am I bearing?
