We live in the now...we remember the past. What's yet to come is unknown to us, but we can know where we're headed. Christians don't need crystal balls to see into the future. The Bible gives tantalizing details about a heavenly kingdom beyond description, a New Jerusalem with streets of gold. Today: a final look at What We Believe, and a peek through the mists of time into the timelessness of eternity.

The relationship between Christ and His church is so intimate that only a wedding can picture it. One day, that wedding will come. At a time yet future, Jesus will be united with His church at a great marriage supper of the Lamb in heaven. What that will be like is our focus on today's broadcast, as Pastor Erwin Lutzer wraps up his study of the church as a key element of What We Believe.

The Greek word is ekklesia, the "called-out ones." In English, the word is "church," and if you believe in Jesus, you're "called-out." You're called out to live separate from the values of our culture. That's tough to do, but when we forge links of fellowship and support in a local assembly, it becomes a lot easier. That's why God says, "Don't forsake assembling together." The church: local and universal, is today's focus.

If you examine the evidence, it's clear the devil is having a field day. Evil is running rampant worldwide....for now. A day is coming when a long-delayed sentence of doom is to be carried out. Satan and his demons have a date with a very hot place for a very long time. Today we'll hear about Satan's present activity, and then his ultimate end. And it's not pretty.

If the devil tempted us in a red suit with horns and a pitchfork, we'd laugh. But the real devil is clothed as an angel of light. Even Christians can be deceived and find themselves succumbing to temptation from the enemy of our souls. Satan wants you to think he doesn't even exist. But the Bible tells us that he walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Today: exposing the devil for what he is.

Angels often appeared in Bible times with words from God to His people. Also, angels brought God's judgment. In doing God's bidding, angels have been charged with watching over believers. In this life we'll never know how often they've protected us from harm. Someday we will know, and then we can express our appreciation. Today: more about God's angelic host, and how they care for us.

Sci-Fi shows talk about a parallel universe we can't see. For the Christian, there really is a parallel universe, only it's not parallel. The world of the spirit exists right inside the real universe we can see. Unseen millions of angels hover all around the people of God, serving those who are the heirs of salvation. Today, another chapter in the basic teachings of the Christian faith: a chapter on angels.

The gospel of Christ simply means the good news about Jesus: His death on the cross that makes our forgiveness possible. It was the risen Christ who commissioned His people to "go into all the world and make disciples." What's the best way to fulfill that Great Commission? Today, a further look at how we can make the good news of the Gospel known to those whose eternity depends on hearing it.

Turn on CNN, and what do you get? Politics, the economy, the war: for the most part, a lot of bad news. Now turn back the clock two thousand years. Even under Roman oppression, the early church reveled in some really good news. That news was the gospel: the message that Jesus came to seek and save sinners, and give them eternal life. That beats cable news any day.

There's an inherent sickness in the human race. It can't be denied. Full prisons testify to the reality of sin. Those prisons are full of people born in sin, born with a propensity to do wrong. As Paul says, we're all "by nature the children of wrath." In our study of key doctrines, we're coming to grips with "The Sin We Rationalize." Today, Pastor Lutzer finishes this study.
