When Jeremiah proclaimed the coming judgment of God, his fellow Israelites paid him no heed. Life went on with no thought of a day of accounting. We in America must learn what they learned, because where Israel went, so will we.

God had Babylon take Israel captive after Israel deceived itself into idolatry. He will not tolerate endless disobedience from His people. He did not then, and will not today. This story is found in the early chapters of Jeremiah.

Jeremiah 2:13 says that Israel forsook God, the fountain of living waters, and hewed out broken cisterns for themselves which can hold no water. For this, God’s judgment fell. Have we in the modern church hewed out broken cisterns?
