Christ, The Lord Of Our Finances #1 of 2

“The love of money is the root of all evil.” Christians running the race of life frequently get tripped up by matters of money. And those issues revolve around ownership. Whose money is it really? Is it mine to do with as I please, or, am I just taking care of it for someone else? Christ had much to say about money: words we will hear shortly.

He gives an honest answer to the sexual pressures we face like extramarital relationships, self-gratification, same-sex attraction, and more. Remember high school gym class? Perhaps you never did well in those track events, but the coach kept urging you to do your best. Although we’re not equal in abilities, we are equal in our obligation to use our abilities for God wisely. In Bible times, a talent was a large sum of money. Today it signifies a skill. Either way, the parable of the talents shows us how to manage what we’ve got.

We’re not all made the same. Some are more talented than others. But all believers run life’s race toward a heavenly goal. We’re all given gifts and abilities. But it’s how we use them, not how many we’ve got, that determines the outcome of our race. Rather than complain about what we don’t have, let’s focus today on how to best use what we’ve been given.

Track and field athletes get very familiar with the stopwatch. Their training is a regimen to improve their times, until they win. For the Christian, time is a vital, non-renewable resource. Like a coin, it can only be spent once. How we spend it requires wisdom from God. Why not invest the next twenty-five minutes learning how to best use your time?

In a race, no time can be wasted. Runners pace themselves, knowing that winners only win by a fraction of a second. For Christians running life’s race, the clock is also relentless. Once gone, time cannot be reclaimed. The Bible teaches believers to be “redeeming the time, for the days are evil.” Time must be used wisely every day.

For all the crimes Satan has perpetrated on planet earth, a simple death sentence is just not enough. That’s over too quickly. No, God’s plans for the devil involve unlimited torment in a lake of fire that will never go out. He will pay for every defiant deed he ever did. Today we get a sobering glance at the ultimate punishment for rebellion against a holy God.

The ravages of Satan clutter the annals of time. Death and destruction mark his attempts to thwart the purposes of God. But his sentence has been handed down. His doom is certain. He’s on death row, howling until his date with a lake of fire. Today: an encouraging look at the final end of Satan, the prince of liars. At long last he will get his due.

The devil can do a lot of damage when a believer lets him gain a foothold. Slandering others is only one of the sad results. As Christians run life’s race, they need to rid themselves of any evidence of these footholds. Otherwise, much damage can be done to the cause of Christ. Today: more lessons on how we can, and must, “clean up our act.”

Many Christians have given the devil a foothold in their lives, and the result is often tragic. But what can they do now? Believers running life’s race who are burdened by Satanic influence need to know that they need not remain in bondage. They need to know that there is an antidote for the serpent’s evil poison.

The Bible says that Satan is like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. But he can’t get in unless the door is open. Believers running life’s race have a choice: they can open the door, or slam it shut. Today: we’ll learn about some of these doors, and find out how to set the deadbolts properly. Please stay with us, as we learn how to stop the serpent in his tracks.

Some who watch movies think ghosts are “ectoplasmic energy” that can be dispersed with just the right GhostBuster technology. Here’s a reality check: ghosts are very real, but no electronics will kill them. Today: the real deal on haunted houses, ghosts, familiar spirits and other forms of demonic influence, and why Christians must shun them all like the plague.
