In a hyper-sexualized culture, sex is either reduced to pleasure-seeking or conflated with our identity. But God designed us as sexual beings for emotional and spiritual intimacy whose highest calling is to worship Him. In this revised edition, Pastor Erwin Lutzer draws on forty years of ministry experience to present a rationale for sexual purity. He gives an honest answer to the sexual pressures we face like extramarital relationships, self-gratification, same-sex attraction, and more. As desire-driven creatures, we don't have to pursue happiness at the expense of character. With our identity grounded in Christ, we can live victoriously with our passions. Believers of all ages will one day inhabit the New Jerusalem. The Bible says it’s both gigantic and glorious. The book of Revelation gives us the details, and if you are a follower of Jesus, it is your future home.

If you’re a dad, and your son is gravely ill in the hospital, you’d do anything to trade places and bear your son’s pain. The same is true for God the Father. When His Son Jesus agonized on the cross, God felt the pain His Son was enduring, knowing He was paying the price for sin.

The death of Jesus on a Roman cross is the turning point of history. That act of obedience to the Father secured the salvation of all who believe on His Son. Jesus said, “There is no greater love than a man lay down His life for His friends.”

The relationship between the Father and the Son is crucial to understanding Christianity. Jesus died as a sacrifice to avert the Father’s wrath against guilty sinners like us. That is an expression of love that can never be fully understood.
