Is the dream you have for your life farther away than ever? Are you just plodding along with no hope of reaching your goal? Take heart. Although Joseph in the Old Testament had a dream of ruling his brothers, he ended up sold into slavery. A lesser man might have decided that his dream would never come to pass. But for Joseph, the dream never died.

For the Christian, life is more than laps around a track. On the way to the goal, we have dreams of what God would have us do. So, do you have a dream? Maybe it seems unreachable. We’re going to meet a man from the pages of the Old Testament whose dream had to die before it could come to pass.

Today we'll hear His words on our motivations, as recorded in Matthew 6. Our job: letting in the light to scatter the darkness in our lives. Fasting: it’s not often talked about in a culture where what we usually want is fast food. Summer is a great time for picnics: hot dogs, chips, baked beans, watermelon. Most of us really enjoy eating, but there are times in a Christian’s life when eating should be the last thing on the agenda.
