Living With Your Passions
In a hyper-sexualized culture, sex is either reduced to pleasure-seeking or conflated with our identity. But God designed us as sexual beings for emotional and spiritual intimacy whose highest calling is to worship Him. In this revised edition, Pastor Erwin Lutzer draws on forty years of ministry experience to present a rationale for sexual purity. He gives an honest answer to the sexual pressures we face like extramarital relationships, self-gratification, same-sex attraction, and more. As desire-driven creatures, we don't have to pursue happiness at the expense of character. With our identity grounded in Christ, we can live victoriously with our passions. The gate to hell is right next to the gate that leads to heaven. How did Judas, who followed Christ for three years, not go through the gate to heaven? Judas’ covetous heart, determined will, and deceitful mind led him to the wrong door. And when Judas had the chance, he rejected God’s grace, sealing his fate for all of eternity.

Even mature Christians can’t get through a single day without the need to confess their sins. That’s why Jesus washed His disciples’ dusty feet: to show us that we need daily cleansing, without which we have no part with Him.

A clean heart is something every single person needs. And the One who washed the disciples’ feet is the only One who can wash our hearts. Pastor Lutzer asks and answers five life-changing questions: Who needs to be cleansed? How can we be cleansed? What is the purpose of cleansing? How often must we be cleansed? And lastly, how do we help others be cleansed?

Jesus turned the world on its head when He stooped to wash His disciples’ feet.   Superiors don’t serve inferiors, do they? In the kingdom of God, they do. Let’s learn about the character of Christ, and then go out and do what He would do: practice servant leadership.

Do you have a servant’s heart? Jesus knew that His time had come; He knew His mission and His destination. At that hour, He–the Creator–got down on His hands and knees and washed the feet of His creation. It was through this act of service that He showed us the path to greatness.

It’s easy to display the fruit of the Spirit when all’s right with the world. It’s much tougher when life takes a hard turn. Often the most radiant believers are the ones who suffer the most. The Holy Spirit shines through the lives of many whose road has been hard. On today’s Running to Win, we take a final look at the work and ministry of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer.

Christians have an inner conflict. The desires of the flesh rage against the desires of the Holy Spirit. As we learn to walk in the Spirit, following the prompts given to us by God, we’ll no longer give in to the desires of the flesh. Today, Pastor Lutzer gives us images to cling to in order to help us keep on the right path.

This gift of speaking in tongues was prevalent at the birth of the church, and today its resurgence causes some to wonder if what we see now is the same thing that happened long ago. In today’s message we’ll take a careful look into the Bible for clarity on what tongues are, and what they’re not.

All of us have natural abilities. Some have more; some have less. But every believer in Jesus has a spiritual gift. Some teach; some proclaim from a pulpit. Others serve in quiet ways that few will notice. In today’s message, learn how to find out what your gift is and how to put it to use for God’s glory.

The process of becoming Christ-like involves a growing sensitivity to the Holy Spirit who wants to create in us the character of Jesus. Sins that seemed small suddenly seem big, and our desire to please God means saying “no” to many things that didn’t bother us before.
