We live out our purpose in life of glorifying God especially when He becomes more important to us than anything else. We become dead to sin, meaning the temptation can no longer effect us. Ultimately when we die, we have nothing to fear because we will be with Christ forever.

It is interesting to see how Jesus, the God of the universe, came so humbly to earth being born in a barn. His ministry shows Him reaching out to lost people normally seen as lower class. The need for Jesus in our lives equates us all, and we can all worship Him together.

The same Jesus who was miraculously born of a virgin comes to live in us when we surrender our lives to Him, and He works in us in seemingly impossible ways to make us more like Him so that we can’t help but to speak His name to others around us. Rather than looking at what is humanly possible when God is involved, we should give ourselves to Him, trusting that He can do whatever He pleases.

Just like the Pharisees in Jesus’ time could’ve figured out who He was by simply asking where He was born, we could understand a lot more if we would just take the time to ask questions about Scripture and seek the answers. God promises that He will bring answers about Himself when we seek Him with our whole hearts.

When God tells us something, whether directly or verified by others, we need to obey immediately no matter what it is He’s telling us to do. The only safe place to truly be is exactly where He has called us.

When God calls us to something, we need to not get hung up on the impossibility of it but rather trust Him to provide whatever is needed. At Christmas time, there are so many opportunities to tell others the Gospel, so may we embrace those moments with boldness, trusting God to give us the words and the courage when necessary.

Instead of judging other people for the lifestyle choices that they make, we need to examine ourselves and realize that we need Jesus just as much as they do. When we allow Him to come in and change us from the inside, it will show through our actions.

Every Christian is called to share the Gospel with everyone around them. The greatest way that we can show that the Gospel has made a difference in our lives is by living differently than everyone else, being the salt and light. Wherever God has placed us, we must make sure we are doing our jobs as a Christian on the job.

God is described in the Bible as implementing truth at the same time as mercy over and over again. Without mercy, truth becomes too difficult to grasp, and without truth, mercy allows for too much freedom. In the same way that God pairs both, we must do the same when dealing with others.
December 8, 2016
We do not have to live our lives in a prison cell where we are caught up in sin. Jesus offers us free lives, and it is in that freedom that we find our purpose and fulfillment through Him.

Jesus accepted the cup God had given Him of such great suffering for the greater good of saving us from our sins. Sometimes God gives us a cup of suffering that we must drink in order to experience His blessings for us, whether we get them here on earth or not until Heaven. We will suffer either way, but it’s better to suffer God’s way for our own good.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
