Side By Side

The reality of life is that troubles will come. God has designed His Church to be full of people who can comfort each other during those times. He can work in us and through us so that His goals are accomplished in spite of difficult situations.

The Bible tells us of the covenant that God made with His chosen people, Israel. That covenant was then shared with all the gentiles through Christ. This means that for us who believe, we become God’s children forever and He promises to take care of us just as He took care of Israel and continues to do so.

The only thing that will ever make us truly happy in life is understanding that God loves us and there is nothing that can ever change that. When we realize that He loves us, we can then love Him and ourselves. When we love God and ourselves we can begin to love others, sharing with them His love for them as well.

The devil draws many into believing his lies that this life is all there is, but the reality is that there is life after this life. As long as we keep our faith and hope in the reality that is to come, we can have the strength to finish out the things God has placed us on this earth to do until He calls us home.

If you have exes that you have not forgiven, the bitterness you carry around will haunt you for the rest of your life. God says that we are supposed to love our enemies and pray for them as well as forgive them. When we forgive those who have hurt us we can let go and move on.

You may feel like you are a flop, but God gave His Son for you. He went all in to save you and so in return you must go all in and give Him your life, allowing Him to work in you and through you, taking care of you all the way.

We live in a dangerous world, but not only do we face physical struggles but spiritual ones as well. The Bible tells us to tuck ourselves away in God and He will cover us, protecting us from all things that come against us.

God has done so many things in Scripture and in our own lives and we must not forget how He has provided for us. Jesus offers you the Bread of Life, Himself, and when you offer Him your life to take Him in you will see the amazing things He does in you and through you.

When we are disconnected from God, spiritual life is not getting to us and we are apt for attack. It is crucial in the Christian life to remain in the Word and in fellowship with other believers so that our hearts do not turn away from the Lord.

God used John the Baptist solely for the purpose of preparing people for Christ’s coming. When you are obedient to God it is not 15 minutes of fame that you are looking for yourself but rather looking for ways to direct others’ attention to Him.

God can use obscure things in our life to get our attention just like he did with Balaam and his donkey. When we’re so focused on getting that thing our of our lives we cannot see how it is protecting us. Ask God to show you what it is that you’re ignoring that He is trying to use to get your attention.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
