Prostrate Exam

When Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemane, He laid prostrate before God, overcome with sorrow because He knew what was to come. He knew the contents of the cup He must drink and He asked God to take it from Him. We all have certain struggles in our lives that we must fight. Our flesh is weak, and that is why carrying our cross, as Jesus calls us to do, involves dying to ourselves and finding new life in Christ. We must, as Jesus did, accept the cup God gives us and glorify Him through our struggles, all the while remaining prostrate before Him saying not what I will, but what You will.

It is a fact of life that tragedy happens. The question is how you will respond after the fact. Will you worship God despite your circumstances, or will you shake your fist at him when tragedy occurs? Everyone can make plans in their lives, but we must always remember to leave those plans open for God to change them. Sometimes the way God gets us to where he wants us to go is never the way we would have chosen, and still we must worship him.

It is common for Christians to think that they must be meek and turn the other cheek at all times, however when it comes to spiritual matters it is essential to fight. The devil attacks Christians, their friends, and their families, and the only way to fight is to wear the armor of God and use the Word, the sword. Christians must not only fight for themselves, but God also lays it on their hearts at the right times to fight for those around them. While still here on earth, it is necessary to fight.

Just as there is a mess after the birth of a new baby, there is a mess in the life of a Christian after they are born again. The Bible talks about the struggles of sin among Christians because Christians sin! To grow in the Christian life means to confess our sins. When we do sin, Jesus Christ is our highest-powered attorney who bails us out every time. While there are still consequences for the mess that we make, we have life after birth and then afterlife.
