Richard Ellis

Perfect Stranger

We often miss out on opportunities to serve Jesus because we do not view those who are hungry, thirsty, naked, sick or imprisoned as Jesus Himself. When we allow the Spirit to lead us, He will open our eyes so that we can make the most of those opportunities to serve those considered to be least in society. We are supposed to be active members of His Body, not sleeping and waiting to go to Heaven.

Rather than trying to do and earn everything on our own, we need to trust God that He has great plans for us and He will work to accomplish those plans if we submit. God has a purpose for our lives and it is ultimately filled with the greatest treasure made possible to us by Jesus Christ, but we have to give up our lives and step out in obedience.

We all have things in our lives that we have said won’t happen until pigs fly. The fact is that Jesus said He would never leave us nor forsake us. When God says something, He’s going to follow through with what He says He’s going to do.
September 9, 2015
While it is easier to be served than to serve, God has called us all to be servants to Him and to each other. Our faith in Jesus should lead to actions of obedience and service if our faith is truly genuine.

Often times we celebrate when someone becomes a Christian, but too few of us ignore the necessity for discipleship in teaching that new baby Christian how to stand. When we listen to God and are willing to obey, He guides us to divine appointments for us to meet with people who have been calling out for Him.

Without Christ we are simply losers, but God freely offers us the greatest gift of all because He chose to love us anyway. We must live our lives responding to His love, not looking out for ourselves or building up our own pride but rather glorifying Him in everything we do.
September 6, 2015
We must be willing and available to respond to God’s calling when He sends us people that He is trying to reach. God has made each of us uniquely and sometimes it’s our own giftings that can touch a certain person in a way that finally resonates with them for the sake of the Gospel.

We must be watchful of the devil and his prowling on us to entice us into sin. At the same time, we must look to Jesus who is the all powerful King who has promised to come back for us and reign over all.
September 3, 2015
Sin is pleasurable, but that pleasure only lasts for a time until consequence and suffering kick in. We can choose to live it up in sin and not think about when midnight strikes, or we can make the choice to live with the Prince of peace who promises to satisfy us completely and give us abundant life.
September 2, 2015
We may feel like our sin is too great for God to fully forgive, but Jesus’ blood is strong enough to clean all our sin. Instead of living as though we cannot be clean, or living in sin and taking advantage of God’s grace, we need to humbly confess our sin and go on in our lives as clean as God has made us.

The best reaction to when we are stumped by a difficult circumstance in life is to seek God for answers because He can handle our questions. In this world there will be many moments where we find ourselves stumped, but when we enter eternity with Christ, He will make all things known to us, and so until then we can take heart and keep pressing forward.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
