This is the message of the Gospel that was prophesied in the Bible for Jesus to take on our payment of death because of sin. He did not deserve to die, yet He accepted the brutal death on the cross in order so that we may be saved. All we have to do at this point is believe and have faith, yet we too often feel as though we must also do something to earn salvation. The bottom line is that the Law, all the rules that you could follow, comes with a curse of death because if you break one you break them all, and it is impossible to follow them all. Christ’s death changed everything and it is only by faith in Him that we can be saved from the fate of deserving death up a tree.

Jesus said that we should not consume ourselves with laying up treasures here on earth because they will inevitably be destroyed in one way or another. Instead, we should focus on investing in treasures in heaven that will last for eternity. The only way to invest in something eternal is to invest in other people. You do not get your reward when you die, you get your reward in the end because if you have been investing in others than you will continue to reap the rewards of those you’ve invested in investing in others and so on. Making disciples is the most important thing that we could do while here on earth.

We are all slaves to something, but Christ offers us freedom from slavery to sin so that we may choose to live as slaves to Christ. Slavery is only a good thing if you have a good master, and Jesus Christ is the best master of all because in Him we find freedom. In early Biblical times, a veil was put up in the temple of the Lord to separate the holiest place so that only by a blood sacrifice could it be entered. When Christ died, that veil was torn in two, symbolizing that His blood was all that was needed so that we may now enter into fellowship with God when we choose to believe in Him. The veil was rent so that he could own us completely and be our master, but we have to yield to Him completely.
