As Christians, we bring God with us everywhere we go because He dwells in us. When we congregate in a church setting it is more than a weekly dose of the Lord; we are coming together as the Church, the Body of Christ. Since our bodies make up God’s temple, we should treat them accordingly.

God calls us to step out in faith sometimes, and it is only when we do so that we get markers in our lives that point back directly to His faithfulness. When others look at those markers and see the miraculous work God did in us, they can turn and glorify Him.

God has us on this earth so that we can share the Gospel with others and reach those that are lost, helping to bring them from spiritual death to life. We must be following Jesus closely so that He is making a difference in and through us in order to get people hooked and wanting what we have to offer.

God’s grace and mercy through Christ covers all of our sins so that we no longer have to be ashamed but can rather stand in His presence. Instead of giving into the lies that the devil tells us about worldly things that can cover our shame, we need to rest in the covering of Christ, knowing that we are redeemed through Him.

When we decide to follow Christ, His power resides in us and we can work in His power without Him physically being present. Jesus encouraged us in Scripture to ask our Heavenly Father for what we want, no matter how big or small, and believe in faith that if it is according to His will that He will give that to us.

Men who want to be a godly husband one day must love God first and foremost, then love himself and others. Women who want the right man to marry must practice patience in order for him to become the righteous and faithful man he should be first.

We can come up with all the reasons to not forgive someone who has hurt us, but God calls us to forgive them no matter what. Since we have been forgiven of all of our sins, we should release the hurt that someone has caused us and extend forgiveness to them.

God is sovereign and in control of all things, allowing circumstances to come our way that may challenge us. When we find ourselves in difficult situations, we must respond by trusting that God is still in control and His plans are best.

Jesus said that wide is the road that leads to destruction and many follow it, but few find the straight and narrow path that leads to eternal life. The only way we will find that path is by following God’s direction in our lives, and the first place to find direction is from the Bible.

God has a perfect plan for our lives and the lives of each child to be born. Instead of being so focused on making our will happen, we need to slow down and trust that God knows what He’s doing and can intervene in any situation.

It is common for especially men to go through a midlife crisis where they get bored with what they have in their lives and seek after more pleasurable things. God wants us to stay focused on Him and not be distracted by the things of the world because He is the only one who can provide true pleasure and satisfaction.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
