Not many people have something in their life that they would die for. In a relationship with Jesus Christ He desires a commitment from us that we give our whole lives to Him. The Bible teaches that we are to be a living sacrifice to God, living and doing all things for Him.

We are not supposed to catch and release when it comes to sharing the Gospel. We must follow Jesus and teach others to do the same. Following Jesus requires authenticity because acting it out and faking it is not an option. It’s expensive either way, but it’s worth the price to follow Christ.

The devil knows what bait to use to lure you into temptation and sin. In every temptation there is always an escape if we look for it. Mistakes will be made and there is always forgiveness although that does not relieve us of the consequences. The only person who can show us how to run from temptation and overcome the struggle is Jesus, but we must run to Him first.

Jesus came to earth in the poorest of conditions, being born in a stable, so that no one could claim that they are worse off than He was. Even the people that God chose to share the news of the Messiah with first were the smelly, poor shepherds. The Savior was born, and even the creation of the stars told of this event, leading the wisemen to the stable in Bethlehem. From all of these poor circumstances came the baby boy that would be the Lamb who was slain to save the whole world.

Many people have hesitations to believing that what the Bible says is really true. Rather than throw out the whole Bible because we don’t understand some things, we need to research it ourselves. Then, at some point, we need to come to a place of choosing to believe it and meet Jesus as our Savior who offers us eternal life.

God not only gave us physical life but He offers us eternal life by giving His Son to die. When we receive this gift of salvation, we can turn around and give our lives back to Him to use as He pleases. We must also not be selfish with our salvation but rather spread the message of hope with others.

Just as the shepherds and wisemen chose to worship Jesus when He was born on earth, we are given the opportunity to lay our lives down in worship to Him. Whether we choose to worship Him or not, in the end we won’t have a choice. It’s better that we choose now to worship Him so that we can spend eternity singing His praises.

The gift of salvation through Jesus Christ is offered to everyone, but we must choose to receive it. If we accept this gift, we get to spend the rest of our lives unwrapping all we are given in Him.

Family issues seem to often come up around the time of the holidays. Instead of growing more bitter towards one another, God calls us to love each other and to make things right. While we can’t control others, we can take responsibility for ourselves and do what we can to make peace.

Just as the Israelites in Exodus needed the blood of a spotless lamb to save themselves from physical death, we need the blood of God’s Lamb, Jesus, to save us from spiritual death. When we understand that there is nothing else that can save us but His blood, then we can share this news with others.
December 18, 2015
Jesus came as the Savior of the world, offering salvation and a changed life to all. He promised to return and it’s our job to announce His returning. We must wait expectantly and talk with others about how Jesus can change their lives as well.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
