The Gospel story is that Jesus died a brutal death, was buried as a dead man, and rose to life. It is because of His sacrifice and His resurrection that we can be saved from the inevitable spiritual death that is due to sin. It is important that we share this good news with everyone we encounter, knowing that it is only God who can give them the faith to believe it.

When Jesus was crucified, His last words that He spoke while hanging on the cross told the thief He would see him in paradise, told His brother to take care of His mother, spoke of his humanness in being thirsty, and finally proclaimed the completion of the payment for sin. Christ’s death was the full payment once and for all, taking all of our sin on Himself, and finishing all the was needed so that we may be free.

Prayer does not have to be an eloquent speech but rather a simple conversation with God. The Bible tells us to find a quiet place alone to talk to Him. Prayer helps build relationship with God and allows for the opportunity for us to see God answer our prayers.

We all start off in over our heads buried in sin, but God has made a way through Jesus Christ to take away all our sin, leaving some consequence so we can learn from our mistakes. The more we dive into the Scriptures and apply what we read, the more God’s Spirit works in us and through us, changing us for His glory.

Our lives are always producing fruit, but we only produce good fruit like love, joy, and peace when we are connected to Christ. Others see when our life is transformed and we start producing good fruit and they want to get connected to Christ so that they can be transformed as well because they want what they see that we have.

God may be speaking to you and telling you to do something but you’re not hearing it because you’re looking for an extravagant manifestation of His voice. Listen for His soft whisper and obey what He is telling you to do.

Our identity should not be found in ourselves but rather in Christ. When we choose to follow Him we accept the call to die daily to ourselves and live as He tells us to live. Before we try to figure out who we are, we must accept and understand whose we are and let Him live in and through us.

We all have a conscience built within us that creates some boundaries in our lives, and we know when we’ve crossed those boundaries. Instead of carrying around the guilt of our sin everywhere we go, we can find forgiveness and freedom in Christ who can wipe our conscience clear.

The Bible tells us that when we abide in God, He not only lives in us but also lives through us producing Spiritual fruit. We can do nothing to bring Him glory apart from Him. We must remain in Him so that He can prune us to produce more fruit.

It is easy to be fearful of the future because you don’t always know what to expect. God knows the future and nothing takes Him by surprise. No matter what happens, He is always in control and we must trust Him.

The Bible tells us the story of Jonah when he resisted the instructions God gave Him. So many other people were affected by His disobedience. In the same way, when we disobey God other people are affected as a result. Whatever God is calling us to do, we need to stop ignoring Him and do the right thing.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
