Throughout Scripture God has designated a certain order to things.  We are to give Him the first fruits of our labor, and then take care of ourselves because He promises to always provide our basic needs.  We are to love Him first so that we can learn to love ourselves for who we are which will follow into loving others as ourselves.  All these things He has commanded have a certain order, and it always starts with Him.  Before we can receive much from Him, we must give up all that we cling to.  It is in this order that we find all that He has promised because we are doing things in the way that He designed them to be done.

David wrote in the Psalms that life is like a vapor, here one moment and gone the next.  All of us face the same destiny, and that is death here on earth.  As Christians, we are called to use our time on earth wisely, doing the things God has called us to do and realizing that the stuff here on earth is just stuff and we can’t take it with us.  We often get distracted and think it is okay to get saved and then spiritually sleep through this life.  God has called us to run a race, and so let us run that race to the best of our ability, investing all that we’ve got and bringing others alongside us as we run.  If you have not ever given your life to running this race, the time is now because you do not know what tomorrow holds.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
