There can be a variety of things that remind us of mistakes we have made in our past, but the fact is that God has forgotten and remembers our sin no more when we are washed in the blood of Christ. Rather than allowing these times that the devil reminds us of our mistakes to bring us down, we should instead sing praises to God and fight back with Scripture, moving forward from the past and embracing the future God has for us.

We can try to make anything in life happen whether it be marrying a certain person or taking a certain job. The truth is that if it is not God’s will for our life then it will turn out to be a huge mess. The only way to know God’s will is by spending time with Him through prayer and Scripture and letting Him lead you.

There is a common temptation for anyone to be lazy and in turn not developing the skills that they have.  Rather than giving into this temptation, Christians are called to do everything for the glory of God.  That means that God is your boss and you are to do everything as if doing it for Him.

Jesus says that if you follow Him and obey Him that the world will hate you. Even though there will be people who hate you, God will put someone in your life who may hate you at first but God can use you to bring them to Him.

We are all faced with the choice to deny ourselves or deny God and we must choose one or the other. Jesus died to give us life and we need to be ready and willing to proclaim Him to everyone.

God has chosen specific people to reveal Himself to through Scripture. If the light has not turned on for you to see the power that God offers you, ask Him to show you so that you may live with purpose between now and Heaven.

It is all too easy to break the law, especially when it comes to speeding or paying taxes. Whether we agree with the law or not, or whether we like who is in office or not, the Bible tells us that God placed those specific authorities over us and we must obey them. In the same way that we obey God when we obey the law, we also disobey Him when we break the law.

When God calls us to obedience we sometimes make excuses. No matter how legitimate an excuse may seem to us, every excuse to not obey God is a lame excuse. He is merciful to forgive and He will take care of all our needs as long as we submit to obeying Him first.

Sometimes God turns up the heat in our life by walking with us through difficult circumstances so that we can in turn become a blue flame for Him that can do some significant work in the world.

The Bible talks a lot about submission to authority in marriage, child and parent relationships, and elsewhere in life. Ultimately, though, the authority that we must submit to is Him because He knows what’s best for us and will direct us in that way.

It is easy to compare yourself to other people based on what’s on the outside, but God is more focused on working with you on the inside. If you are waiting for God to bring a significant other into your life do not compromise your standards but rather let Him work on your while you wait.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
