Blood Relative

The Christian life was never meant to be lived out alone. When you become a follower of Christ, you become part of the family of God. While it is so important for the family of God to meet together, it is also important that all the members love each other and continue to make it be a safe place for everyone to come just as they are.

The Bible emphasizes the importance of caring for the elderly. They have so much that they can teach the younger generations, but more than that God promises to bless you when you obey His command to honor your parents, even when they are old of age.

There are different instances where God is out of sight yet in every one we are called to trust Him. He often brings us to places where our faith is stretched because we are not sure how He is going to provide for our needs, but He always provides all that we need when we seek Him first above all things.

When we partake in gossip or slander we are allowing our tongue to destroy not only the person we are talking about but also ourselves. Rather than speaking harm against others, may we speak life into them and gently address what needs to be addressed.

In order to be prepared for meeting Jesus when you die you need to live the days of your life in obedience to Him. No matter your profession, God calls you to represent Him in this world so we must live every day as if it is our last doing just that.

We often try to take control of our life when in reality we have no control. What we need to do instead is trust that God is in control and that no matter what happens He loves us and will provide for all of our needs.

God created things to work in a certain order, and when it comes to men and women, men were created to lead and women were created to follow the man. Women are wonderful creations of God, as are men, and when things work in the order that God has laid out for men and women, it brings immense glory to Him.

As His children, God wants us to come to Him and tell Him we love Him. You cannot do that unless you know Him and see the things He has done for you. When you have that relationship with Him, you cannot help the worship that then overflows.

When you choose to follow Christ you are also choosing to suffer as He suffered. Many times that comes in the way of temptation. When you are tempted in an area that you know you struggle in, choose to suffer in doing the right thing and you will be rewarded because righteousness is addictive.

We all tend to gravitate to people who are like us. Riff raff is another term for garbage, and many who are low in society are thrown off as such. Just as Jesus focused a great majority of His ministry on people thought as lower in society, we are to also reach out to the riff raff in our world because when it comes to eternity in Heaven we are all equal.

We cannot run away from the sin and struggles of this world but we can go in and not be affected because what we have to offer is better than anything else in the world. You must be filled with God first before you can overflow Him with others.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
