We all need encouragement every now and then, but few people are willing to give it in fear of building a big ego. Rather than letting anything stop us from encouraging others, we should simply encourage them as God leads us to, and let God deal with a person’s ego. Although God does not need it, He loves for us to praise Him, and in doing so we ourselves gain encouragement.

We are going to have pain in this life, but God has a bigger plan through which His glory comes out of our mourning. We must seek Him at all times, especially during tragedy and He will put joy in our hearts that no one around us may understand but nothing can take it from us.

It’s easy to make judgments about other people when we are ignorant of their lives and backgrounds. Instead of staying ignorant, we need to seek to learn from others so as to share the Gospel with them in a way that they can understand.

Just as Peter in the Bible was taught that God loves and accepts all people of any sort, even those previously seen as unclean, we must be willing to look at others through God’s eyes. Regardless of the possibility of feeling uncomfortable, we must be willing to say “yes” to God when He calls us to reach out to other people.

Everyone has different struggles with sin, but they all fall under similar categories because the devil only has so many kinds of arrows. When we continue to entertain thoughts of those sins, we are living in disobedience to God and we will suffer consequences. Surrender to Him and live in the freedom that He offers.

When we look at ourselves simply for who we are, we do not normally see someone great. However, because God is in us if we have chosen to follow Him, He has adopted us into His family and it is only because of Him that we are great.

When people encounter Christians, they are coming so close to Christ without even knowing it. We must obey God’s leading to share the Gospel with others, whether or not they choose to be close-minded.

Men tend to find their value in their work, and because of that they lose all sense of importance in the case of a job loss. Instead of trusting in other men or a corporation, we must put our trust in God who promises to sustain us and carry us through His good and perfect will for our lives.

The Proverbs 31 woman is the kind of woman any man should look for because she works hard at the tasks God has given her. If God is laying on a woman’s heart to stay home for a time while her children are young to raise them, she must obey His leading because it’s a season of life that she’ll never get back.

The workplace can introduce relationships that may begin innocent but lead down a path of ungodly behavior to the detriment of ourselves and our marriages at home. We are not to even play with fire, but instead focus on our work and maintaining a great reputation with everyone.

God has placed us at our jobs for His purpose, and we must be a reflection of Him to those with whom we are working. Instead of gossiping about others or making ourselves look better than we are, we must be diligent in our work and remember that ultimately we’re working for God.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
