Know It All
October 17, 2011
In the beginning God created everything by speaking it into existence.  But when He created man He formed man and woman in His own image, bearing a “maker’s mark” that set humanity apart from all other creation.  When Adam and Eve brought sin into the world, that image was damaged in every human being to follow.  When someone accepts Jesus as their Lord and Savior, He restores that “maker’s mark” within that person and they are redeemed, never to be condemned again.  The devil tries to tell us lies by accusing us of the things we’ve done in our past and leads us to believe in our own condemnation for those things.  However, the powerful truth is that all he can do is accuse, not truly condemn, and we must believe in the promise that because of Christ we are made new – restored to bear the image of God because that is how He created us to be.

We all make mistakes in our lives, but the goal is to make more right turns than wrong ones.  The more right turns we take the better off we are.  When someone does make a wrong turn, we should never label them by that one mistake but rather focus on the right turns that they’ve made to encourage them to get back on the path.  No matter how many wrong turns we’ve taken in our lives, Jesus is always inviting us to a different path where we can begin making right turns as He leads us to do so.

A motley crew is a group that could be made up of a whole bunch of mismatched, very different people.  Each member brings their own unique attributes tot the crew, and each is an essential part.  This is a perfect picture of those who make up the Kingdom of God, but too many of us like to stick with our own “kind” as if we are too good for anyone different than us.  Rather than judging other people by their appearance, background, social status, financial state, or any other thing, we should look at them as God looks at them – worthy to die for.  That is what Jesus did for each and every one of us, and those who make up His motley crew, no matter how screwed up any individual is, all end up in the end wearing white and living in eternity with Him.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
