The Messiahship of Jesus

March 30, 2015
Love Beyond Measure - Jesus Christ went beyond. He went beyond all costs, all that is reasonable, to offer you and me the opportunity to be given a second chance at life, real life. But He has gone even beyond that. He has come to offer you and me new life, a better life, a life with Him that secures for us all that this world never could provide. Jesus Christ offers you actual freedom: freedom from your past, freedom from your fears, freedom from the demands of others and even freedom from religion. Jesus sets you free to live the life that He has intended for you, a life of peace and of joy. And when your time in this world has come to an end, He has promised to take your hand and lead you into heaven itself, which is beyond all that you can purchase with money or earn with good deeds. Jesus Christ offers you freely that which you could never afford. Will you consider who Jesus Christ really is today and the radical difference He can make in your life? Believe me - it's beyond what you can imagine.

Daze Of Deception
Jesus warned that deception would grow worse as we draw nearer to the end times, saying, “Take heed that no one deceives you” (Matthew 24:4). Distinguishing truth from error has become increasingly challenging—even in the church. We live in a time when falsehoods assault us from every direction. Packaged with just enough truth to make them appear trustworthy, these counterfeits have grown more and more difficult to detect and avoid. Living in the Daze of Deception explores the many ways error is masquerading as truth—and you’ll learn how you can discern the difference.

So far, in this series we’ve typically looked at one parable at a time, breaking down each analogy. Our primary text has been Matthew, thirteen, which records many of these parables. And we will be in that portion of Scripture today, but we’re also looking at the Old Testament, which gives a foreshadowing of why and how believers receive these “literary devices,” and their methods of communicating the truth of God’s written word.

We’ve been looking at Matthew, thirteen, which records many of Jesus' parables; it also explains what parables are, as well as their audience and intent. This time, we’re also looking at Luke, eleven, where we read of another of these analogies -- which is also a challenge to the listener, by the way – that speaks of persistence.

We’re in a lesson taken from Matthew thirteen, thirty three. We’ll also look at other passages of course, but this one verse serves as our primary text. It’s about The Parable of the Leaven. Now “leaven” is a term we don’t often use in Western culture, yet it is mentioned several times throughout Scripture. Sometimes it’s literal, sometimes symbolic. The question is how did Jesus use the term in this context?
