History Changers: #1 Live Beyond Your Limits
January 9, 2011
Most people think of success as being the result of getting into the right position. But not Jesus! Jesus taught us that success, in the Kingdom of God, is the result of getting in the right condition. With God, condition is always more important than position! God is more concerned with the condition of our hearts and lives than He is about the particular position we have or hold.

Here we have the last of the Ten Commandments.  As God came to the conclusion of communicating these laws to live by to Moses, He inscribed these words on the 2nd tablet of stone: Exodus 20:17 (NLT) Do not covet ...

Throughout the Bible we see God breaking into history at crucial moments. This was the case when God gave us one of the most significant revelations found in Scripture - the giving of the Ten Commandments. Today we come to the 9th Commandment: "You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor."Download Sermon Notes

The Lord in a very straightforward way, calls us to account about the way we handle material possessions. In the context of this negative commandment is implied a positive approach to life. He wants to show us how to live the kind of life He can and will bless - a life of respect. In this message we will take a look at 4 ways we can fulfill the 8th commandment. We will see what God has to say to us about respecting boundaries.

What is the major value God is communicating to us through the 7th commandment? It is the value of moral purity! The 7th commandment is a call from God to us –– a call to commit to moral purity –– especially as it relates to our sexuality.

Undergirding each commandment is a principle –– a value system God wants us to embrace. This week we come to the 6th commandment, “You shall not murder,” God tells us Choose Life! He calls us to be people who value life because life is an expression of God Himself and every human being bears the image of God. Jesus takes this commandment to an entirely different level. There is more to “murder” than murder itself. In this lesson Pastor Dale helps us to understand how this commandment applies to issues of our heart, it is not just about killing someone physically, but it is about how by our words and attitudes we can literally kill the spirit of another person. This is a very important message in our spiritual growth, I pray you heed it wholeheartedly!  Download Sermon Notes

This weekend Pastor Dale talked about the 5th commandment, “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.” While this commandment addresses family issues there are broader applications involved. The undergirding principle is HONOR. God wants us to be people of honor, people that know how to honor Him as the ultimate authority and how to honor the people He has placed in authority over us. God wants us to learn to do what is honorable in the way we exercise authority and people that know how to train our children to value honor, obedience and submission in their lives.  Download Sermon Notes

The Ten Commandments give us healthy, good boundaries –– boundaries based in the goodness of Godʼs nature and the desire He has for our lives to be blessed. This is true for the 4th commandment. It is the longest of all the commandments, and often the least understood or properly applied. It is Godʼs command about the Sabbath.  Download Sermon Notes
