#8 Commit To Moral Purity

November 7, 2010
What is the major value God is communicating to us through the 7th commandment? It is the value of moral purity! The 7th commandment is a call from God to us –– a call to commit to moral purity –– especially as it relates to our sexuality.

Undergirding each commandment is a principle –– a value system God wants us to embrace. This week we come to the 6th commandment, “You shall not murder,” God tells us Choose Life! He calls us to be people who value life because life is an expression of God Himself and every human being bears the image of God. Jesus takes this commandment to an entirely different level. There is more to “murder” than murder itself. In this lesson Pastor Dale helps us to understand how this commandment applies to issues of our heart, it is not just about killing someone physically, but it is about how by our words and attitudes we can literally kill the spirit of another person. This is a very important message in our spiritual growth, I pray you heed it wholeheartedly!  Download Sermon Notes

This weekend Pastor Dale talked about the 5th commandment, “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.” While this commandment addresses family issues there are broader applications involved. The undergirding principle is HONOR. God wants us to be people of honor, people that know how to honor Him as the ultimate authority and how to honor the people He has placed in authority over us. God wants us to learn to do what is honorable in the way we exercise authority and people that know how to train our children to value honor, obedience and submission in their lives.  Download Sermon Notes

The Ten Commandments give us healthy, good boundaries –– boundaries based in the goodness of Godʼs nature and the desire He has for our lives to be blessed. This is true for the 4th commandment. It is the longest of all the commandments, and often the least understood or properly applied. It is Godʼs command about the Sabbath.  Download Sermon Notes

The Ten Commandments are God’s first formalized moral code of conduct for His people. We now come the the 3rd commandment. This commandment is all about our use and representation of God’s name. At the core of this commandment is a value that we ought to embrace –– a value that should become very dear to us, a value that should govern the way we think and act. The underlying value of the 3rd commandment is a call for us to “Reverence God’s Name.”  Download Sermon Notes

This weekend Pastor Dale teaches us on the 2nd commandment. This commandment forbids us engaging in idolatry and in worshiping through idolatrous images. There is a throne in our hearts and it is a “one seater?” It was meant for only One –– our Creator! When there is anyone or anything else sitting on this throne other than God, revealed through His Son, Jesus Christ, we are committing idolatry! The value of the 2nd commandment is to build our life on faith, a faith that acknowledges the true and invisible God as the only One worthy of our worship.

Today we come to the first of the Ten Commandments, "And God spoke all these words: “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. “You shall have no other gods before Me.” (Exodus 20:1-3) The first of the Ten Commandments calls us to value priorities; to pay attention to what our priorities are; and to make sure that God is our Top Priority. This is the beginning point for a fulfilling and fruitful life! Who or what we worship drives the direction of our lives. Who or what we worship determines our eternal destination!  Download Sermon Notes

In today’s message we are going to see what God has to say about the use of our hands in worship. God has uniquely connected our physical hands to the process of worship. Until we use our hands the way God wants us to use them, we will miss a major part of passionate worship.  Download Sermon Notes
