Now stones aren’t alive; in fact, we sometimes refer to things as stone dead. Yet Peter’s symbolism captures a beautiful reality about Christ.
Jesus is a stone in that He is the focal point of the church, the foundation stone, the church’s spiritual house. He is the cornerstone, the crucial stone in the entire building. From Him the church draws its spiritual symmetry and its life.
As a living stone, from Him the church draws its very existence. Jesus is alive. Our hope and the basis for every spiritual blessing we have rests in that great reality. This is John MacArthur, trusting your lives are portraits of grace.
