When the economy is in trouble, everyone feels the pinch. Some lose jobs, others lose homes. Many people are losing their sense of security. Anxiety is on the rise, since Washington's solutions are not fixing the underlying issues. As the New Year unfolds, it's a good time to remember where true security comes from, and, to send our roots down deep into the waters that never run out.

At Christmas, we think of Mary, a woman who faced a life she never expected, but yet, a life she was willing to undertake as a servant of the Lord. To bear the Son of God and raise him to adulthood meant both joy as well as sorrow. To watch your son die on a cross and know His sacrifice was not just for the world, but for you, was a pain no other mother has ever faced.

No other mother who ever lived had to face the pressures of bearing the Son of God. Mary was granted a unique privilege, but also the awesome responsibility of raising a boy who would be the Messiah of Israel and the Savior of the world. How she coped with her situation is our focus on the next two Moody Church Hour broadcasts.

They are among the most soaring words ever penned. The Apostle Paul concludes his famous eighth chapter of Romans by listing all the things that cannot separate us from the love of God. If you're treading some deep water right now, and need some encouragement, you've come to the right place.

A death-row inmate faces a grim prospect. Sometimes, a state's governor will commute his sentence, and even set him free if new evidence is discovered. In a moment, the inmate's outlook leaps from despair to joy. We all deserve a spiritual death-row sentence. Were it not for the work of Jesus, none of us would escape getting what we've earned through our sins. Today, we'll discover that God has bestowed yet another gift on those who trust Christ. Please stay with us.

How would you react if a lawyer called, saying you'd just inherited a million dollars from a distant relative? No doubt with disbelief at first. Later, reality would sink in when the check was handed to you. Well, if you're a believer, you have a check waiting for you at the bank of heaven. And its for far more than a mere million. For the details, please stay with us.

As a believer matures in the faith, he or she comes to realize that salvation is not so much a result of our seeking God as it is the result of God choosing us first. We'll learn that, if God had not done this, none of us would ever have chosen Him. Please stay with us.

Only a Christian can be certain that all of life is heading toward a future glory. That's why a believer can know that all things, even the bad things, work together for good for those who love God. For a challenging message on a famous Bible verse, please stay with us.

It's tough to be optimistic when slogging through life's tough times. Some people try to grin and bear it; others crack under the pressure. But the Christian can have a perspective that makes enduring our troubles possible: a perspective of a future glory that makes our present suffering infinitesimal in comparison.

How would you feel if you got a letter saying that an unknown benefactor had died, leaving you ten million dollars? You were an heir to a fortune, and did not know it. Well, that's exactly what you are as a child of God. In the book of Romans, we read: "The Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs...joint heirs with Christ."
