Paul was up against it, so to speak, in ministering to Corinth. It was a mixture of people and expectations. There were those who were in awe of the Greek philosophers of the day and their intellectual abilities. Then there were the Jews, who demanded signs and wonders as proof of Paul’s legitimacy. But, Paul’s speech was simple and direct, and although he was very wise and God used him at times to work signs and wonders, his focus was on the power of the cross…not on the signs. In the message, “Keeping Expectations Within Reason”, we’ll see that keeping the focus on Jesus works…not only in life, but in communicating the Gospel as well.
