In our thinking about the home and especially our children, we have gone back to our roots. We have thought about how God forms each person in the womb. We have discovered there are both “good bents” and “evil bents” deep within each of us. This discovery led us to realize that, as parents, our duties include cultivating those God given interests and capabilities in our children — but not to the exclusion of dealing with disobedience, rebellion, and defiance. Next, we examined the huge responsibilityof shaping each child’s strong will with wisdom. Then, knowing that rearing children is much more than discipline, we turned our attention to delighting in our children. Due to the breadth of that last subject, we’ll explore it more in this lesson. Having learned some key words in the Bible that pertain to delighting in our offspring, we now need to think about some practical ways we can do just that. As you consider these, remember:your children won’t forget the occasions you make to take joy in them. Delightful memories last forever.
